Finnish capital Helsinki is a wonderful place that redefines ‘travelling light’ – visit in summer and you’ll experience incredibly long daylight hours and virtually no dark at all at night. Naturally, a city so often bathed in light has to be pretty, and Helsinki doesn’t disappoint, with plenty of quaint squares and neo-classical architecture to marvel at. It’s a relatively small capital, perfect for exploring on foot – and it’s packed with great outdoor bars and cafes where you can watch the world go by.
